Tracey loves the NerdyHomestead life!

So just to start this blog off, I will tell you a little bit about myself and why I chose to start gardening and storing food, raising our own meat and dairy animals, and living off of our homestead. My name is Tracey, and I

am 28 years old. I have 3 beautiful children: Gunner, Lilly, and Grayson. I have been married to my husband, Thomas, for 9 years. Together we have a wonderful life. We share a love for food. So, we decided the only way to ensure chemical free organic food, was to start growing our own. We have had many failures, as well as many successes. Our cucumbers have been our biggest success so far, followed by watermelon, and cantaloupe. We started with no knowledge on how to garden and we have utilized YouTube and books to help us along our Journey, with a little help from our family of course. From the best way to till, prepare the dirt, plant, the best seeds, all natural pest controls, when to plant, when to harvest, how to get and store seeds from the produce you grow, and how to store the extra produce. From dehydrating to canning, we have had to teach ourselves everything. We garden together as a family. Gardening is by far my favorite part but there are other things we do here at the NerdyHomestead that are just as important.

We raise chickens for eggs and meat, we have meat rabbits, a few goats who will produce milk and provide meat for us as well. This way of life is hard work. But it is rewarding work! We work hard as a family of 10!!! My sister, her husband, their 3 kids, Thomas, myself, and our 3 kids! That’s a lot of mouths to feed, and lots of work to do! But, we love it all! I cannot wait to share everything we have learned with you!
